My First Time Story: Installing RHEL 4 On A TeraBytes System

Today, I went to Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil to do Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) installation at the client site.

There are 2 servers, both of them are HP Proliant ML350 G5. To my surprise, one of the server has 6 hard disks, the capacity of each of the hard disks is 300GB. By having a RAID 5 configuration, the total space available for that server is roughly 1.5TB ([300GB * 6] – 300GB).

This is my first experience to do a Linux installation on a system, which hard disks capacity is in terabytes. Pheww, I guess the price of a hard disk is getting cheaper and cheaper nowadays.

Sounds like storage capacity is gaining on us. Terrabytes size storage going to be norm in the next couple of years (well with raid you can get it right now).

    mypapit,
Dia pakai Firefox/Konqueror tu, just tukar browser identification yg pelik-pelik (konon nak nampak 1337), yg mana “http user agent” yg dia set tu takde dalam database WordPress browser detection plugin, tu yg keluar “unknown” tu.

    Danny,
w00t! That’s superb man. Size does matter nowadays :D
