I’m Happily Using Free Download Manager

Yes, I am using this award winning software. Here is the story…I’m a Unix Technical Support Engineer who is still using Microsoft Windows XP due to undisclosed reason. Today, I’m looking for a download manager to download RHEL 5.1 ISO’s. I’ve been a Download Accelerator and GetRight user in the past, but somehow I don’t like them very much since they are just shareware plus having adware in their software.

I’m wikipedia-ing and suddenly came to Comparison of Download Managers page. Without further due, I straight away look for the download managers that can run on Microsoft Windows. As a free & open source software (FOSS) practitioner, my choice is always for FOSS-based software. Hence, I pick Free Download Manager to give it a try. Of course, I’m using the latest version.

And guess what, it looks good to me. Now, I would like to announce that I’m happily using Free Download Manager :) It’s an Also, I really recommend you guys to use it, especially to those who are still using Microsoft Windows for some reasons (company policy, testing, software issue, matter of prereferences etc) like Adli, Fenris, Ayoi, 1337 programmer etc. Owh well, I can’t recommend it to Piju as that g33k doesn’t use Microsoft Windows on his desktop and laptop!

Here I’m currently downloading RHEL 5.1 ISO’s,

Looking @ the screenshot, seems like its something that provide similar functionality as a firefox plugin called DownThemAll.

Its a neat download manager and its XULbased, which means, it runs on all platform firefox supports.

    adi,
-Repository yg aku guna tu takde ISO DVD. Tu yg just download CD je.
-HP Malaysia memang ada offer position untuk fresh graduate. Berminat ke? Kalau ya, aku boleh forward kan yg ada.

    KageSenshi,
Just try dTa, and I think it’s cool :D Nevertheless, I just prefer a standalone download manager. Anyway, thanks for the info :)

    Wing Loon,
Of course, I’m downloading from an intranet site :)

    adi,
Aku sebenarnya kurang pasti, tapi mungkin ko boleh refer HP Certified third-party hardware products.

HP partner companies who show real commitment to HP, and who possess the appropriate level of technical expertise and product support infrastructure, can submit products to the “Certified for HP-UX” testing program. “Certified for HP-UX” means that the product has undergone the highest level of testing available for partner products. Testing is completed at an independent test facility under the guidance of HP and is designed to promote customer confidence in the testing and service associated with the product.
