Alhamdulillah…..Finally, I managed to sit for LPI Exam 201 & 202 exams. Of course, the great thing is I PASSED both of the exams, which is entitled me as an Advanced Level Linux Professional (LPIC-2) by Linux Professional Institute.
Cost
RM574 x 2 exams. This is the fee at Prometric Malaysia, I’m not sure the cost at VUE. Nevertheless, I can say that it’s not cheap to take the exams under normal circumstance, thanks God I can reimburse the fees from my employer.
Difficulty
Damn…I don’t mean to scare you, but the tests are really tough and there is a lot of unexpected questions. I can say that both exams (201 & 202) are tougher than RHCE. Yes, you heard it right – tougher than RHCE. I don’t know, but maybe I’m more a practical-type guy and prefer to read man pages rather than memorize it :) Furthermore, the objectives in LPI exams are just too wide that made me difficult to guess the questions.
Study Material
- LPIC-2 Objectives (yes, a simple rule: study the objectives first)
- LPI exam prep by IBM
- LPIC-2 Exam Prep by Snow B.V.
- Linux experience (end user + SysAdmin)
- Some Test King questions (they were not very helpful).
Tips
- Again, study and understand the objectives, tasks and sample questions. Master all of the objectives and youl will pass the exam successfully
- If you use Linux in your daily life, it would be an added advantage.
- If you would like to ask for more, then let’s having a teh tarik session :)

Kalau nak senang, ambil kat Prometric je, cawangan dia banyak kat Malaysia. Sebagai persediaan, yg paling penting adalah fahamkan objektif. Aku ambil LPIC-1 tahun 2005, time tu boleh tahan susah jugak lah soalannya. Kalau ko baca buku ni, memang ada can lah nak lulus ;)
